A Little Needlework

A week & a day late, but I have my second Sketchbook page completed & ready to show off.

The prompt for this page was "A Little Needlework" & needed to contain an element that moves. Needle arts have been a part of my creative endeavors for most of my life, so I decided to focus on my first favorite (clicking on the photos will make them slightly larger)

Sketch Book Project 042

I've been sitting at the table, working on a small project

One of the things I love about cross stitch is that you don't need a lot of supplies;

Sketch Book Project 044

your pattern graft, a piece of even-weave canvas, floss, scissors, & a needle

Sketch Book Project 045

I included some personal reflections (hope you can read it)

I keep my needles in a little case

They don't fall out & you can keep several sizes on hand

Of course, as the eyesight ages, a little needle threader really comes in handy

These are my favorite scissors for needlework~ they are small, sturdy, & the little hook on the end allows you to pick up & clip one stitch at a time

I best get everything back into my work basket, so I can find it again when I'm ready to work

Remember to drop by "A Happy Miscellany" to see what Mrs. Staggs & the other have created this week; it is never too late to join in~ there are no rules or deadlines, just start where you are, with what interests you.

Meg, your page is really nice. All the colors coordinate so well, and I love the way that you've included some of your handwork, and the chart, as well as that pretty needlebook. It's pretty clever the way you've made the bee dimensional. I'm amazed at how real your scissors look. I love the journaling too. It's all so wonderful and inspiring. I was thinking this is a wonderful way to record all the handwork that one makes and gives away. You could make copies, of everything and "keep" them this way. It's just perfect!

I've never seen scissors like those before. Those are pretty neat!

Meg, I love your page! I wanted to do this with Mrs. Staggs but I didn't know where to begin. Your book will be awesome.

What a neat book! So,not going to the original site to check it out for myself... is it meant to be a keepsake along the lines of a scrapbook? Or more of a journal or somehting you put in a frame?
I LOVE cross stitch. It is sew easy! Haven't done it in a while, though... other crafty things catch my interest!
Getting excited about your KY trip? The weather is pleasant right now... but there's no telling what a few weeks will do?!

So cute!

My mom did all kinds of needlework. Needlepoint, , knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch and sewing. I have several of her pieces in my home. They mean so much to me...

She tried to pass this same love on to me and it worked for a while. Then I became a teenager. She started me out on cross stitching...I wish I could find those pieces!

I think I am too blind (over 40) to try to pick it back up...sad. It is a beautiful art. :)
